Museum of Montserrat - EN

Objects from Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Classical World illustrate the great ancient cultures of the Mediterranean. We will live archaeology at the time that Father Bonaventura Ubach formed the archaeological collection that you can see today at the museum.

The best artists of Catalan Modernism are well represented in the Museum of Montserrat. Authors as significant as Ramon Casas and Santiago Rusinol tell us through their work how was Catalonia in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, a revolutionary changing era also in the world of art.

This tour through the museum follows the path of art time to time, starting from the Gothic to the avant-garde movements. We’ll recognize the major artists and movements and we’ll understand the evolution of materials and pictorial genres.

This tour combines two of the Museum's collections: Phos Hilaron, icons of the Eastern Church, and Nigra Sum, about the image of the Virgin of Montserrat.

The Escolania de Montserrat opens its doors to you so that you can discover what one of the oldest and most emblematic music schools in the world is like today.
