In view of the significance of the times we are experiencing in Catalonia, we felt it appropriate to present a selection of postcards related to the popular and cross-party movement of Solidaritat Catalana (1906) and some of its consequences: the Commonwealth of Catalonia (Mancomunitat de Catalunya).

Two-color postcard designed by Josep Costa "Picarol" with an ironic content about the movement of Solidaritat Catalana, constituted by heterogeneous elements that some wanted to agglutinate permanently and, on the other hand, others considered purely conjunctural.

The Museum of Montserrat shows in its permanent exhibition the original flag of the Unió Catalanista, designed by Alexandre de Riquer. These two postcards have as their main theme this flag carved in a guild shape, with a beautiful embroidered Saint George. Number 17 (1919) is designed by Maria Julivert and carries the portraits of the former president of the Ateneu Barcelonès, Àngel Guimerà, and the president of the Protective Association of the Catalan Teaching, Manuel Folguera.

Postcard (c. 1920) designed by Maria Julivert Aulés and edited by Unió Catalanista. It tries to emphasize the continuity of the Mancomunitat with the portrait of both presidents, Enric Prat de la Riba and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, placed in front of the Gothic façade of the Palace of the Generalitat, in Barcelona.

Enric Prat de la Riba is another important personality of the history of emerging Catalonia. He had the ability to unite in a joint action the various Catalanist parties to form the Mancomunitat de Catalunya (1914), precedent of what will be the Republican Generalitat (Catalan Government).

Two postcards dedicated to the beloved memory of Dr. Robert, mayor of Barcelona, who died in 1902, who had been a precedent of Solidaritat Catalana for his choice in favor of Catalonia over political parties, often in dispute. Number 8 reproduces a drawing by Ramon Casas (c. 1900). It belongs to the series "Illustrious Figures" and was printed by the Cuyàs printing company in Barcelona.

Postcard designed by Jaume Llongueras, of modernist style, alluding to the movement of Solidaritat Catalana with the slogan "La unió fa la força" ("Unity is strength"). Catalonia, personalized in an allegorical figure, graceful but powerful, raises the senyera (Catalan flag) and holds in the other hand an olive branch, a sign of peace. On the four lined shield a rising sun that represents the irruption of the movement of Solidaritat Catalana.
