Montserrat's millennium now has its own narrative space. Montserrat, A Thousand Years of Art and History is the exhibition that opened its doors yesterday at the museum as part of this celebration, which kicked off on September 7th and aims to provide context. Throughout the tour, which can be visited until December 8, 2025, visitors can see previously unseen pieces such as the dressed image of the Virgin of Montserrat or the Llibre Vermell from 1399.
Art is the common thread of this display, taking visitors on a journey through the history of the sanctuary. "We wanted to use artistic elements that help us understand why monks have been here for a thousand years and the artistic creation that has taken place," explained Xavier Caballé, director of the Museum of Montserrat. One of the main attractions of the exhibition is the opportunity to enjoy works that "are usually kept within the monastery's enclosure, invisible to visitors, and have never been on display before," he emphasized.
