Guest Artwork: Painting with Three Spots, No. 196

From 10 October 2026 until January 2027, the Museu de Montserrat will host an exceptional guest artwork: Painting with Three Spots, No. 196, by Wassily Kandinsky.
Its presence is the result of an exchange with the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and offers a unique opportunity to see in Montserrat a work by one of the great names of 20th-century art.
Miró Cycle. Art and Territory: Silence and Transcendence: Miró and Contemporary Spirituality
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Fundació Joan Miró, the Museu de Montserrat will host one of the sessions of the Miró. Art and Territory cycle, organised by the Xarxa de Museus d'Art de Catalunya.
The cycle seeks to highlight one of the most universal figures in Catalan art and to propose new readings of his work and thought from contemporary perspectives, in dialogue with the collections and narratives of the museums belonging to the network.
At Montserrat, the session Silence and Transcendence: Miró and Contemporary Spirituality, led by Teresa Blanch and Raül Garrigasait, will take place on Saturday 17 October at 12:15 p.m., in the Puig i Cadafalch Room.

Montserrat Mainar (Barcelona, 1928–2015) explored enamel and its new expressive possibilities. Her work was often inspired by great classics of literature, especially Homer's poems and Tirant lo Blanc.
Her artistic career led her to create the altarpiece of the high altar of the Basilica of Montserrat, one of her most important works, where she depicted the Last Supper.
During October, the Open Window into the Storage Collection offers the opportunity to discover two of her enamels, Untitled, created in 1990. The two works are a clear example of the experimentation with textures, materials and colour that defines her artistic language.
